our day today

less than one week until school starts. sad and happy. 

we have a busy week. riley had a dr appt and just before we left, i turned all the lights out and looked a the front door- in the dark- with my bad vision- and look what we found. a scorpion. so tiny. i have very excellent vision for only finding bugs. we switched bug services and they came out last thursday, we found 2 dead ones outside two days and then this one! riley was brave and sprayed it. i think it was half dead already. didn't put up a fight like they usually do. here's hoping this new service works!!!!

we jammed to the dr appt. came prepared with austin's i pad but after 20 minutes he read some books they have there laid down on the couches like this. silly boy. he's lucky we were the only one there and the extra seats weren't needed!

i promised riley i would let him make dinner all by himself. he has shown an interest in using the stove and we started off easy. a box of pasta roni. something he'll actually eat. i sat on the counter and showed him how to  turn on the stove. he's 10! i guess i should have shown him a long time ago. 

he got the water boiling.

added the sauce pack and noodles. 

stir, stir, stir. wait for the timer. i had to show him how to set the timer. 

and there ya go. happy boy that can make his own noodles. then we went over the rules how you don't make anything without an adult there with you. that's all i need- him setting fire to the kitchen. i only have done that once, and that was years ago, and my in-laws kitchen. but he remembers. and still reminds me when i make toaster waffles. i can't help it if i get distracted!
